When is the right time for submitting the Application?
Every University/College/Institute has their own intakes (admission starting dates) during a year. Some have two intakes during the year, while others may have three or only one intake during the year. Generally, majority Institutions in a particular country follow same intake. Hence, one should initiate steps for admission process at least 6 months in advance for the respective intake. In some cases, you could initiate these steps 3-4 months in advance also.
What one needs to be accepted into a course?
To be accepted into a course of study in an overseas institution, you need to satisfy the minimum academic entry requirements and English language requirements. Normally "A" Level/HSC depending on the course you are choosing.
If you have a Senior School Certificate or less: Students with relevant practical experience but without formal qualifications are sometimes considered. Advice on the entry requirements for ones’ specific course and whether his/her work experience can be considered in lieu of his formal qualifications, can be obtained from the admission office of the respective institution.
How long does it take to receive an answer from the school after the application has been submitted?
On average, it takes 4-8 weeks, but it take longer depending on each individual situation.
Are students allowed to work while studying?
International students are allowed to work only if students have work permit and working hours should not exceed 20 hours per week. Unlimited hours is permitted during school holidays.
What are the requirements for obtaining a visa?
Be enrolled in a registered CRICOS course. Your AEP counsellor can advice you on suitable courses.
Meet health requirements (you may be required to undergo a health check).
Obtain health insurance Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
Have sufficient funds to cover all study and travel related expenses while in Australia (at least AUD$12,000/year for living costs).
Meet English language proficiency requirements for their preferred course (IELTS test score may be a means of assessment).
Be of good character
Have arranged suitable accommodation if they are under 18.
